Is there anything you would like to know about our progress so far?
Are you interested in helping out in any of the following areas?
- Trail layout
- Trail work
- Executive (Secretary, Treasurer, President, VP)
- Promotion
- Other?
Do you have any suggestions or advice to get us rolling?

ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. Those are great trails, many of them originally laid out for cross-country skiing. I'll be glad to help with mapping and trail layout, and perhaps do a map for people to follow - you could get lost in there easily. And maybe we can coordinate with the snowshoe people to have separate trails marked. Where did you get your existing map?

Thanks Stew for your offer. It would be great if we could get a basic trail(s) mapped, brushed out and signed for this winter.
ReplyDeleteCooperation with the snowshoe people as well as the BVSC and the Klondyke Groomers Snowmobile Club would have immediate and long-term benefits for all groups, in my opinion.
The map on the flyer is a result of days of field work with an aerial photo and a compass. I used the map-making function on the County of Grey website GIS mapping link. The result is that the trail locations are relatively accurate but not GPS accurate.
Hi Folks
ReplyDeleteI think this is a fantastic idea with lots of legwork done already. Kathy, is that you posting as anonymous?
It would be great to connect it somehow to downtown Kimberley-- does anyone have ideas on how to connect the trails into town, other than a stretch on the #13?
Keep us posted! And I can definitely help with promotion.
cheers
Stacie (at the General Store)
Thanks Stacie. You bring so much positive energy to the community. I would love to see a connecting trail also. Along with Stacie's question, does anyone know if there is any other way across the river to the MNR land other than the bridge near CR 30?
DeleteCathy - anonymous no longer!
Great idea and I would love to help in any way I can. Love the valley! Sheila
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheila. I'll be in touch.

It will be great to have another x-country ski venue in the area. We have a cottage near BV and enjoy the skiing at Glenelg and appreciate the hard work that goes in to this. Have you considered having an annual fee that covers both Glenelg and BV and combining resources with the two clubs?
ReplyDeleteThat's a really interesting idea. David Turner of GNSC has already been extremely helpful. It is certainly something to consider once the BV Nordic Ski Club becomes a reality. Send me your email address so that I can put you on the mailing list.
